Its slots were a massive success, and the company invested the revenue its games brought in too smartly to expand over the next several decades.

Nowadays, IGT is a multi-billion-dollar gaming company with dozens of popular slots. It’s everyone’s go-to studio for vintage slot machines, many based on its slot cabinets. About IGT

IGT’s history dates back to 1975. It was started by William ‘Si’ Redd, an American businessman who had the knack to recognize the dawn of a new gaming era. Redd ordered the development of several video poker machines installed in Nevada that became a huge hit. The company re-invested the revenue to develop more video poker machines and slot cabinets, all of which were a hit.

IGT never stood idle. It was all for innovation, acquiring patents on some innovative tech systems such as CPT (Computerized Player Tracking). The concept was used to develop some of the studio’s top games. After rebranding itself to Sircoma in 1978, a new rebrand in 1981 followed which gave the company the name it uses today.

At that point, IGT was already a big hit, and in the late 1980s, it introduced the first multi-million progressive jackpot slot – Nevada Megabucks. It was followed by a range of other hits such as Cleopatra, which remains IGT’s most popular franchise and has seen a slew of sequels and spin-offs.
