2020 has been far from an ordinary year, but Premier League football will finally return this week after more than three months away. There is still so much to play for in the last nine rounds of fixtures in the 2019-20 season too. Liverpool can actually win the title this week if results go their way, while the European and relegation places are yet to be filled.

Now, here are some of our selected tips & odds for the Premier League Gameweek 30.

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United - 6:00pm 17th June

Dean Smith has spoken this week about the honour of being involved in the first game back after the long break, stating that the “eyes of the world will be on us”. Villa might actually benefit from the break, as their form was absolutely woeful before the break, going on a losing streak that culminated in a miserable 4-0 loss at Leicester. Sheffield United are of course up at the other end of the table, currently in 7th but only five points off the top four with this game in hand. Whether they end up in Europe or not, this has been a historic season for the Blades and they can be proud of their efforts.

Yes, Aston Villa need the points, but Sheffield United should be perfectly set up to deal with them. Stop Jack Grealish and you stop Villa.

Manchester City vs Arsenal - 8:15pm 17th June

It’s fair to say that Man City’s title hopes are not the strongest they’ve ever been. They are an incredible 25 points behind Liverpool, and if Pep Guardiola and his men don’t want to see the Reds lift the title this weekend they need to make sure they don’t lose this one. It’s been an odd season for City, as they could still win a treble if they add the Champions League and FA Cup to their League Cup even though they are so far off the pace in the Premier League. Arsenal, on the other hand, could still qualify for Europe and it remains to be seen how former City assistant Mikel Arteta will do as Arsenal boss in the long term.

There should be plenty of goals with these attacking sides on show.

Norwich City vs Southampton - 6:00pm 19th June

Bottom of the league and six points away from safety plus a worse goal difference, Norwich are huge outsiders to survive. However, their fixtures include a nice looking run of fixtures at Carrow Road so they can’t completely be ruled out. They’ll rely on Teemu Pukki for goals and Todd Cantwell for creativity. Southampton can still go down but it’s very unlikely. That seems to question how motivated they’ll be to pick up results with no fans in attendance, plus their form before the break was not very good at all.

Saints are the favourites in the betting, but Norwich are more than capable of picking up a win.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United - 8:15pm 19th June

As usual, many eyes will be on Jose Mourinho here against one of his former clubs. However, there is a lot of intrigue about injured players possibly returning after a long time without a fixture. For Spurs, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min were originally ruled out for the season but are now back healthy again, while the same can be said for Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba for Man United. Dele Alli, however, will be missing after receiving a one-match ban for social media posts. Form before the break was majorly different, as Spurs struggled and the Red Devils were on a roll.

With Kane, Son and Bergwijn lining up against Rashford, Martial and Fernandes they could cancel each other out in what we expect to be a great game.

Watford vs Leicester City - 12:30pm 20th June

Another game with teams from either end of the table, Watford are currently in 17th, just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference. Leicester on the other hand look destined for a Champions League place in what has been a spectacular season for the Foxes. When these two teams meet, they rarely seem to end in a draw. Of the last five meetings, Watford won two and Leicester won three. Nigel Pearson turned things around for the Hornets but now needs to finish the job.

Leicester certainly have the better players and will hope to restart from where they left off after the 4-0 win against Villa.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Arsenal - 3:00pm 20th June

Looking at the recent form for the Seagulls, their problems seem to stem from the fact that they have drawn far too many games with four of their last five ending in a stalemate. They play good football under Graham Potter but must be looking over their shoulder, just two points clear of the drop. Arsenal, on the other hand, are still tough to work out. They crashed out of the Europa League in disappointing fashion but were starting to pick up some results in the Premier League. Win a few games and who knows where they could end up?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has still not signed a new contract at the Gunners, so will be out to prove himself here.

West Ham United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers - 5:30pm 20th June

David Moyes is used to being in a relegation battle and he finds himself down there again. His West Ham side have simply failed to put together a good run of form since he replaced Manuel Pellegrini. Wolves could well win this year’s Europa League, although the details on how it will end are yet to be confirmed. Plus, with Man City’s UEFA ban, 5th place could be enough to qualify for Champions League football. A win here could put them in an even stronger position.

West Ham have one of the widest pitches in the league, and without their usual loud home support, it could lead to Wolves’ quick and talented players exploiting gaps in the defence.

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace - 7:45pm 20th June

For the first time in the history of the Premier League, a fixture will be televised on the BBC. Although not the most glamorous of games, it is still likely to bring in plenty of views and since it’s free to air, may actually turn out to be the highest viewed Prem match ever. Palace look like they could well finish in the top 10, with Roy Hodgson still delivering even though he’s the oldest manager in the division. Bournemouth though are struggling in the bottom three. They have good players, but it’s fallen apart for them this season. The break could well have come at a good time for the Cherries, and with important players returning they could get a result.

The last three Palace games have all been 1-0 wins, so we’re not expecting goals.

Newcastle United vs Sheffield United - 2:00pm 21st June

Newcastle are all but safe after a big result against Southampton before the break. They may have more focus on their upcoming FA Cup quarter-final. Two away games in the space of a few days for Sheffield United is an interesting return for them but they are one of the most organised sides in the league. With the return of other big leagues such as the Bundesliga, home teams have struggled for results more than usual. Newcastle are well known for their great home support and without that, the Blades are not likely to be fearing this trip.

Chris Wilder’s side were in great form before the break and there’s no reason why this wouldn’t continue.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea - 4:15pm 21st June

The second game on Sunday sees Chelsea travel to Villa Park. These home games will be crucial for Villa if they are to survive but the fixture list has not been too kind to them for the run-in. A run of losses, including the League Cup final, put them in big trouble and they’re going to need to go on a run to get out of it. Chelsea destroyed Everton in their last game and look like they’ll be an even stronger team next season with some big signings, the latest of which seems to be Timo Werner.

Villa just leak goals for fun and it’ll take a great effort for them to not lose this. Unfortunately, we can’t see it happening.

Everton vs Liverpool - 7:00pm 21st June

Whatever the circumstances, the Merseyside derby is always a huge occasion. Liverpool winning the title at Goodison Park would be massive for them, although if that is not possible it’s just a matter of time before they get their hands on the trophy. It may be obvious, but Liverpool often get the better of Everton in their meetings with three wins, two draws and no defeats. With no European competition to get in the way, the Reds are expected to be full strength from now until the end of the season.

Jurgen Klopp will be eyeing up breaking Man City’s 100 points record and would love nothing more than a heavy win here.

Manchester City vs Burnley - 8:00pm 22nd June

Man City have had three months to stew over their last result: a 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford. Losing to their Manchester rivals is never something to enjoy, and they’ll be looking to go on a much more positive run. It’ll be interesting to see who starts for City here, as Pep Roulette may be even more prevalent with five subs allowed and the Arsenal game just a few days before. Burnley have had another good season, but don’t often do well against City, with 4-1, 5-0 and 5-0 defeats in recent years.

It would be a surprise if Burnley got on the scoresheet to be honest.
