Premier League Preview GW 22

It is not very often that a side has a 13 point lead at the top of the Premier League at the beginning of January, but that is exactly what Liverpool have. The scary thing about that is that the Reds have a game in hand too, so that gap could be 16 points or more very soon. This weekend it is a game against Spurs for them, who are dealing with an injury to their main man Harry Kane. Of the chasing pack, Leicester host Southampton and Man City travel to Aston Villa.

A reminder that here at LeoVegas, there are Premier League betting tips & previews for each week of the season. We also have online betting odds for all of the latest Premier League matches, plus we also have football betting tips for matches around the globe, plus a superb selection of other sports too.

Now, here are some of our selected tips & odds for the Premier League Gameweek 22.

Sheffield United vs West Ham - 8:00pm 10th January

After a difficult run of fixtures over Christmas and New Year, Sheffield United have dropped to 8th. Facing Man City then Liverpool both away from home is never easy, so the Blades will be happier to have a much kinder fixture. David Moyes has had a good start as West Ham manager, winning in the league and the FA Cup. Although the new manager bounce has worked for West Ham so far, the positive performances of Sheffield United so far this season suggest that they could claim a win here. It will be interesting to see which two strikers Chris Wilder goes with for this game at Bramall Lane.

SHEFFIELD UNITED TO WIN - ODDS: 10/11

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal - 12:30pm 11th January

Since beating London rivals West Ham with a last minute winner on Boxing Day, Crystal Palace have drawn twice in the league and then crashed out of the FA Cup at home to Derby. That has annoyed a good portion of the Palace support, as they’re not in relegation trouble so could have theoretically put a lot of effort into a cup run. Arsenal are actually one place below the Eagles in the table, but there are certainly signs of recovery under new boss Mikel Arteta. Palace have a number of defensive injuries so goals could fly in.

OVER 2.5 GOALS - ODDS: 3/4

Manchester United vs Norwich City - 3:00pm 11th January

Amazingly, Man United are still 5th in the Premier League despite having what most people would describe as a poor season. This is, in theory, the perfect fixture to get back on track though. Norwich desperately need a win and will surely have to attack in search of the three points. This could actually play into the Red Devil’s hands on the counter-attack. Marcus Rashford took his goal well against Man City in the Carabao Cup tie on Tuesday, though the less said about the rest of their performance the better. They will have to be so much better here, even against the Premier League’s bottom club.

MARCUS RASHFORD TO SCORE - ODDS: 4/5

Leicester City vs Southampton - 3:00pm 11th January

After league wins over West Ham and Newcastle, Leicester have held onto their position of second just ahead of current champions Man City. What a season it has been for the Foxes, who are undoubtedly one of England’s best run clubs. Southampton are actually on the up at the moment too, after a formation change by Ralph Hasenhüttl. Jamie Vardy and Danny Ings are two of the most clinical strikers in the league, so if either of them get a chance at the King Power Stadium then the odds are that they will take it.

BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE - ODDS: 8/13

Everton vs Brighton & Hove Albion - 3:00pm 11th January

Carlo Ancelotti has found out very quickly that it is going to be far from plain sailing for him at Everton. It is quite clear that there are a number of issues he needs to sort out, which was shown by the dismal derby day FA Cup defeat at Anfield to a much weakened Liverpool side. However, in the league they have won two from three. Brighton are also out of the cup and will now need to focus on securing survival for another season in the Premier League. In the last four Premier League meetings between these sides, the home team has come out victorious on each occasion.

EVERTON TO WIN - ODDS: 17/20

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newcastle United - 3:00pm 11th January

Wolves have climbed into the top 7 and have to be targeting yet another European qualification for next season. A slip up against Watford was far from ideal, and it seems like Wolves need to work out how to beat the weaker sides. They’ll feel confident doing just that here. Newcastle are really struggling for goals at the moment and £40m striker Joelinton felt the wrath of the travelling Toon Army for a poor performance at Rochdale on Saturday. It’s difficult to see where the goals are going to come from for Steve Bruce’s side.

WOLVES TO WIN TO NIL - ODDS: 23/20

Chelsea vs Burnley - 3:00pm 11th January

It has been an extremely strange season for Chelsea, but consistency is always going to be a problem when you are having to rely on young players making their way in the game. Case in point, they beat both Spurs and Arsenal away but have lost at home to Bournemouth, West Ham and Southampton. It will be interesting to see if Frank Lampard makes any moves in the January transfer window. Burnley are now really looking over their shoulder after three league defeats in a row. Four points above the drop zone, they really need some sort of result here to stop the slide.

TAMMY ABRAHAM TO SCORE - ODDS: 8/11

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool - 5:30pm 11th January

It might be slightly too early to write them off, but the wheels are definitely starting to come off at Spurs already. Jose Mourinho has seemed increasingly frustrated in the last two games and they are struggling without the injured Harry Kane. There just seems to be no stopping Liverpool at the moment, with the club going strong in a number of different competitions. The Premier League is definitely the one they want to win this year though, and it’s looking very promising that the Reds will finally take home their 19th league title. This could turn into a rout if Spurs aren’t careful, with Salah, Mane and Firmino all out to score.

LIVERPOOL TO SCORE OVER 2.5 GOALS - ODDS: 41/20

Bournemouth vs Watford - 2:00pm 12th January

Sunday begins with a clash right at the bottom of the table, as 18th placed Bournemouth take on 19th placed Watford. Strangely, it’s Watford who are the side in form and have all the momentum going into this one as Bournemouth seem to have fallen apart. The Cherries have failed to score in three of their last four matches, gaining only a point. Nigel Pearson has turned Watford’s form around, though he will have been less than impressed with their Cup capitulation against Tranmere from 3-0 up. This is an incredibly difficult game to call.

DRAW - ODDS: 12/5

Aston Villa vs Manchester City - 4:30pm 12th January

It goes without saying that Man City need to win this game if they are to somehow catch up to Liverpool at the top of the league. If Aston Villa are to do anything in this game, they will need star man Jack Grealish to put in a big performance, as he has done on many occasions so far this season. Man City will be expected to dominate the ball and reduce Aston Villa’s efforts on goal as much as possible. City’s midfield will be key to this, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva likely to start.
