Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton & Hove Albion - 12:30pm 26th December
It will not be a Merry Christmas for Spurs fans and staff after a nightmare performance and result against London rivals Chelsea on Sunday. Not only did they lose, but they also lost Son Heung-Min for three matches after his petulant straight red card meaning that Dele Alli will have to step up as one of the main goal threats. That result has made Boxing Day’s clash with Brighton a must win game, with the visitors coming into this game on the back of a home defeat to Sheffield United. The Seagulls will be looking for a North London double after winning away at Arsenal a few weeks ago.
DELE ALLI TO SCORE - ODDS: 15/8
Chelsea vs Southampton - 3:00pm 26th December
Chelsea have a four point cushion in fourth place, with the surprise packages of Sheffield United and Wolves looking to chase them down for a Champions League place. Willian looks like the man in form for the Blues at the moment. For Southampton, Danny Ings is on fire, scoring seven goals in his last seven Premier League games. What it means is that the Saints have climbed out of the bottom three at the expense of the side they beat on Saturday, Aston Villa. This will be a much tougher test for them.
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE - ODDS: 7/10
Everton vs Burnley - 3:00pm 26th December
Many in the football world were surprised when Carlo Ancelotti agreed to become the new Everton manager considering the situation they find themselves in. The man that has been at a huge number of Europe’s top clubs and won the Champions League three times now has the task of turning the Toffee’s fortunes around. You know what you’re going to get from Burnley, and it is no surprise to see them in 10th place. Sean Dyche will be looking to spoil Ancelotti’s party, but it may be a tough ask.
Aston Villa vs Norwich City - 3:00pm 26th December
Although many pundits have heaped praise on Aston Villa so far this season, the results just haven’t followed and they have now dropped into the bottom three. Jack Grealish is clearly the standout player for Dean Smith’s side but they look extremely suspect at the back, especially without Tyrone Mings. Speaking of sides in the relegation zone, Norwich have been there for the majority of the season and are six points adrift of safety. Both sides must feel that this is a six pointer and a must win game.
ASTON VILLA TO WIN - ODDS: 11/10
Crystal Palace vs West Ham United - 3:00pm 26th December
A late defeat at Newcastle will have knocked the stuffing out of Crystal Palace just before Christmas. West Ham on the other hand have had a nice rest after their scheduled match was postponed. Palace got the better of the Hammers back in October and will be looking to do the double over their London rivals. The Eagles have been solid defensively, particularly at home and that may lead to a relatively low scoring game.
Bournemouth vs Arsenal - 3:00pm 26th December
After thinking they’ve turned a corner with the huge win at Chelsea, Bournemouth then crashed to a disappointing home defeat to Burnley. That about sums Bournemouth’s season up, where they just can’t get a good run of form going. With a large injury list, this is a massive game for the Cherries. Mikel Arteta will be looking at this game and thinking it’s a great chance to get off to the perfect start in his first match as Arsenal boss.
ARSENAL TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE - ODDS: 47/20
Sheffield United vs Watford - 3:00pm 26th December
Sheffield United are incredibly just four points off the Champions League places and sit in fifth position in the Premier League. Chris Wilder will be up for Manager of the Season if this sort of form continues. Nigel Pearson will have been delighted with the performance and result against Manchester United, as his Watford side showed plenty of fight and quality. Strangely enough though, this trip to Bramall Lane may turn out to be a much tougher game.
SHEFFIELD UNITED TO WIN TO NIL - ODDS: 39/20
Manchester United vs Newcastle United - 5:30pm 26th December
Just when Man United think they are back on form, it all comes crashing down. Ole must be so annoyed with the way his side pondered to a dismal defeat at basement club Watford. The only positive is that Paul Pogba returned as a substitute after a few months out and is likely to start here. For Newcastle, the star man on Saturday was Miguel Almiron, who scored his first Premier League goal at the 27th attempt. It remains to be seen whether this will lead to the Paraguayan going on a scoring run.
NEWCASTLE UNITED TO SCORE - ODDS: 3/4
Leicester City vs Liverpool - 8:00pm 26th December
This is the match everyone wants to see on Boxing Day. Leicester were brought back down to earth after being overrun and outclassed at the Etihad by Man City. Jamie Vardy was his usual self though and scored a terrific chipped effort on the counter attack. If the title race is going to happen at all, the Foxes probably need to win this one. For Liverpool, they will hope to shrug off any jet lag from the Club World Cup trip to Qatar. Salah, Mane and Firmino are in stunning form and it will be incredibly difficult to stop them affecting the game.
DRAW AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE - ODDS: 10/3
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester City - 7:45pm 27th December
Wolves must be looking at the table and thinking they have a decent chance of finishing in the top four. Man City will need to keep winning and hope that Liverpool fall apart in the second half of the season. Interesting, 25 players have been booked for fouling Adama Traore, with Nuno asking for more protection from referees from his impressive winger. Add to this the fact Raheem Sterling often gets brought down too and we could see a spot kick or two in this contest.
