Betting Odds for Premier League Darts in 2024: What to Expect
The 2024 Premier League Darts tournament will take place between Thursday, 1st February and Thursday, 23rd May. It’s set to be proving grounds time for Luke Littler, who will enter the tournament aged 17 – making him the youngest player to participate in the league.
Betting Odds for Premier League Darts: Players to Watch
If you’re looking up betting odds for Premier League Darts, here are the eight players you’ll want to keep an eye on:
- Luke Humphries
- Michael van Gerwen
- Luke Littler
- Gerwyn Price
- Rob Cross
- Michael Smith
- Nathan Aspinall
- Peter Wright
Premier League Darts Betting: Who is Luke Humphries?
They call him ‘Cool Hand Luke’ – and there’s a good reason or two for that! Luke Humphries is PDC World Number One, and he’s got 13 titles under his belt, five of them televised. Given his rise to prominence in recent years, this year’s league could well be his time to shine. And the odds seem to be on his side. However, he’s up against some seriously tough competition.
Premier League Darts Betting: Who is Luke Littler?
Luke Littler is the youngest player ever to enter Premier League Darts, but he has already wowed the crowds at just 17. At the PDC World Darts Championship, he came runner-up to Cool Hand Luke – it’s little wonder that he’s already earned an explosive nickname, ‘The Nuke’. Luke The Nuke is one of three big favourites to take home the tournament. If Littler pulls this off, it’ll be a major upset – but his odds really aren’t bad!
Premier League Darts Betting: Who is Michael Van Gerwen?
‘Mighty Mike’ has claimed more than 150 titles in his career. Van Gerwen has finished with nine darts in TV tournaments several times – he’s certainly a force to be reckoned with. However, he’s PDC World Number Two to Cool Hand Luke – meaning that he might just have met his match.
Premier League Darts Betting: Who is Gerwyn Price?
Gerwyn Price is known to darts fans as ‘The Iceman’, and he’s picked up some impressive titles over the years – televised and otherwise. He’s ranking at Number Five in the PDC World right now, meaning that he’s going to be an interesting player to watch at this year’s Premier League. But does Price have what it takes to knock out some of the best darts players of all time? We’ll find out soon enough.
Other Players and Betting Odds for Premier League Darts
Other players in the running who you’ll want to look into via betting odds for Premier League Darts include Rob Cross, who ranks World Number Six, Michael ‘Bully Boy’ Smith, the World Number Three, ‘The Asp’ – Nathan Aspinall – who’s ranked Number Four, and ‘Snakebite’ himself, Peter Wright. Wright is, according to some odds, the rank outsider in the competition. As the oldest player in the lineup, he might not be your first pick. However, stranger things have happened, and he’s ranked Number Eight for a reason!

World Darts Championship
A year’s worth of terrific tungsten action has all lead to this point. All 96 players have made their way to Ally Pally via many different routes, but all are ready to make a push for the title and allow their dreams to come true on the big stage. Michael van Gerwen was victorious for the third time last year, defeating Michael Smith 7-3 in the final after a dominant run.
A Christmas tradition, the 27th PDC World Darts Championship gets underway on Friday 13th December but hopefully it won’t be a horror show for the players involved. The prize fund this year is an astonishing £2,500,000, with the winner claiming £500,000 and the runner-up £200,000 of that. Whether MVG can retain his title and claim that prize money remains to be seen, as the previous times he has won the World Championship he has failed to follow it up with a victory in the following year.
There are some incredible players that could cause a shot and upset the darts betting favourite MVG, with the World Darts Championship being notorious for shocks and surprises. Last year was a fantastic example of that, with the then defending champion Rob Cross losing to youngster Luke Humphries, while Nathan Aspinall followed up a shock win over Gerwyn Price by reaching the semi-finals.
This time around, there are a few massive talking points going into the tournament. The biggest of which is the impending retirement of Raymond van Barneveld, with this being his last event as a professional player after a legendary career. There is also the immense run of form of Gerwyn Price, coming in to clear second favourite for the title. Here at LeoVegas, we’re taking a look at all of the online betting odds for the biggest tournament in the PDC calendar.

Outright Winner
MICHAEL VAN GERWEN TO WIN - ODDS: 11/10
It is no surprise to see MVG go into the World Championship as the darts betting favourite, as that’s the role he finds himself in for every single tournament that he enters. With the way that 2019 has gone and the emergence of some other players at the top level, the magnificent Dutchmen no longer goes into events as odds on, which could potentially offer good value if you believe he will retain his title.
The defending champion always plays on the opening night, and for MVG it will be a second round contest against either Jelle Klaasen or Kevin Burness. Although shocks are common, “Mighty” Mike will have to be happy with the draw as his section does seem a little bit weaker than some others. His route through to the semi-final stage is likely to be against players such as Ricky Evans, Jonny Clayton and James Wade. After also winning the last TV tournament, the Players Championship Finals, it is no surprise that he is a big favourite.
The Welsh number 1 has had a fantastic few months, with his stellar performances on the big stage not only leading to titles but also leading to earning the respect of the fans. He has been on record saying that he believes he was painted as the “pantomime villain of darts” and that some of the booing went over the top. Recently though this has changed, and after retaining his Grand Slam of Darts title the crowd seemed to be mostly back on his side again.
This may indeed help him in the Worlds, although it is tough to know how the raucous ally pally crowd will react. Looking at the draw, as 3rd seed Price seems to have some very difficult games in a stacked section 4. Likely facing an in-form William O’Connor in round two, players such as John Henderson, Simon Whitlock, Mensur Suljovic, Daryl Gurney or Glen Durrant could be waiting. On his current form though, Price is a level above all of them.
Alternative Outright Odds
Looking at the rest of the odds, there could well be some value here. “Snakebite” Peter Wright is the 3rd favourite at 12/1, though his has not exactly been his best year on the tour. Playing unbelievably at certain points, he hasn’t been able to get the consistency right. 2018 champion Rob Cross is 16/1 and has had a mixed 2019 too, with some early exits coinciding with title wins in the World Matchplay and European Championship. He is always a threat in the big events and will be desperate to make things right after his shock exit last year.
Last year’s finalist Michael Smith is at 20/1 and he may feel as if his section of the draw is a favourable one. Also in section 2 though is Gary Anderson at 22/1, the former back-to-back champion of the world. After reaching the semi-final last year, he has been plagued with back problems that led to his withdrawal from the Premier League Darts and The Masters. He and Peter Wright did win the World Cup of Darts for Scotland though.
Dave Chisnall has had a magnificent return to form in recent months after a disappointing few years, and can be backed at 25/1. This will be Glen Durrant’s first ever PDC World Darts Championship, after winning the BDO title three times. The man from Middlesbrough has a bit of a false seeding due to his lack of time in the PDC, with his performances being above the level of a 27th seed. Therefore, he should be a danger at 33/1.
Plus, in his last ever tournament, Raymond van Barneveld is 100/1 to lift the Sid Waddell trophy. There’s a reason he is a massive outsider though, as he is nowhere near the level he used to be at this point in his career. It would be a major shock if the doyen of Dutch darts was to win the title, but stranger things have happened and this tournament is well known for shocks and fairytale stories.

PDC Home Tour Darts
The Professional Darts Corporation announced this week that they were introducing their latest event: the PDC Home Tour. This gives some of the top players in world darts the opportunity to get back to winning ways in an extremely unique format. The Home Tour will feature a brilliant initial 32 consecutive nights of darts action, streaming live from the homes of each player.
What Is The PDC Home Tour Format?
Played over 32 consecutive nights beginning on Friday 17th April, with all PDC Tour Card holders eligible to play in the event. Four players are in action on each night, with all four competitors in a group facing each other once and a winner will be crowned on each night.
After the initial 32 nights of action have come to an end, the 32 group winners will then advance through to the second phase of the event. Each night’s darts begins at 7:30pm UK time and will be available to watch via live stream.
The rules for each match are as follows:
Each match is best of nine legs
Each win is worth two points
In the event of a tiebreak in the group, leg difference, results between players and overall average will be used.
Which Darts Players Are Involved?
At the time of writing, we know the first four groups.
Group One - Friday 17th April
The biggest name in the list of players taking part from the start is the current World Darts Champion Peter Wright, who starts the event by playing against Peter Jacques from Yorkshire on Friday 17th April. Wright will be a huge favourite not just for the match, but for the group as well. This is a Group One contest, with the other players being Jamie Lewis and Niels Zonneveld.
Group One Betting Odds
Group Two - Saturday 18th April
Group Two sees the Grand Slam of Darts champion Gerwyn Price as the big 11/20 favourite, in a group with a young average age. He will get started against Rowby-John Rodriguez of Austria, with Luke Woodhouse and Ted Evatts facing each other too. Anything other than progression for the Iceman Price would be a big surprise.
Group Two Betting Odds
Group Three - Sunday 19th April
Group Three may be a bit closer than the others, at least that’s what the online betting odds suggest. Dave Chisnall is the favourite at 4/5, with Chizzy looking to take his late 2019 form into this event after a lengthy break. Scott Waites is his closest challenger and first opponent with group winner odds of 5/2. The outsiders in Group Three are Jan Dekker and Jonathan Worsley.
Group Three Betting Odds
Group Four - Monday 20th April
This is much more open as there is no real “big name” player in the list. Ross Smith was a UK Open Quarter-Finalist in 2019 and goes in as Group favourite, taking on outsider Lisa Ashton in the first match on Monday. The other challengers in Group Four are Northern Irish player Mickey Mansell and Dutchman Geert Nenjes.
